Australia, Bali, Malaysia, & Thailand 2025
Thailand and Bali bring us back to where it all started… well, at least where the blog started! Our original intent with our blog had a couple of goals: share our adventures with family, friends, & other wanderlusters. And, well, keep in touch from the other side of the world. 12 years ago, international communication and internet access were different, slower, and expensive.
So over time, our posts have evolved, and it brings us a lot of joy to look back on incredible memories!
July 2013 – Our first blog post!

Our wanderlust has always been part of us. Long before this first post, we learned early on in our relationship that we loved traveling together. In college, we actually managed to get flights to Hawaii for $10. Literally!

Perfect for our college budgets! And from there, we navigated a few adventures and began collecting passport stamps: Banff, Greece, Bahamas, Peru, & Italy!

But there was something different about the trip to Southeast Asia in 2013. Katie, needing a career change, decided to leave her job after 11 years in property management, and it just happened to align with Scott’s summer break. It was an unknown adventure, one that tested our comfort levels to explore the other side of the globe, and one that was pieced together so fast, we didn’t have time to overthink it.
And so it began: 50 days in Thailand, Cambodia, Vietnam, Singapore, & Bali. Backpacking our way through hostels, hotels, cruising on a junk, bus rides across borders, train rides, overstaying our visa (oops), and endless memories.

June & July 2013 was a springboard for us to see the world. It was this trip, those core memories, the time we spent together, inseparable for 50 days, that brought us moments we knew we would cherish forever. The kind of moments that left us ready for what’s next.
And here we are, 12 years later, ready to embark on another journey to the other side of the world. Our journey back to the place where our blog started won’t be the same, but we are ready to revisit some of our favorites, and bring on some new stops, including our 6th continent together: Australia!
35 days ( 5 weeks) in Australia, Bali, Malaysia, & Thailand are sure to bring plenty of adventure and more memories! But first, the preparation is under way for a 5 hour flight to LA, followed by a 16 hour flight to Sydney.
T minus 17 days…
